As December  unfolds, we joyfully celebrate the birthday of a remarkable leader and servant of both his profession and his people, Pharmacist Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai, born on December 1, 1960. On this special day, we reflect on his outstanding journey, his many achievements, and the legacy he continues to build.


A Life Marked by Achievement and Impacts


In a distinguished academic and professional formation

Pharmacist Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai laid the foundation for his illustrious career by early studies from Qur anic Schools, Primary, Secondary and Collage Schools all before obtaining his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1983. 

He also pursued numerous postgraduate certificates in areas such as leadership, emergency preparedness, Islamic banking, and public–private partnership in management. 

Notably, he studied International Marketing (Research & Social Media Marketing) at the University of Salford, Manchester, UK. 

He has even attended Fudan University in China and the University of South Africa, reflecting his global mindset. 


In leadership in Public Service, 

Pharmacist Yakasai served two terms as a Commissioner in Kano State:


Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives, and Tourism between 2005–2010 and 


Commissioner for Land & Physical Planning (2010–2011) 

His work in government displayed his dedication to economic development, public planning, and good governance.



In his Professional Leadership & Advocacy, he served as 1st Deputy President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) from 1997 to 2000. 


He was Chairman of the PSN’s Kano State branch (1991–1995) and also chaired the Nigerian Association of General Practice Pharmacists (now ACPN) for the Kano / Jigawa chapter (1989–1991). 


He was elected President of PSN, serving from 2015 to 2018, during which he fostered stronger relationships between pharmacists, other health professionals, and regulatory bodies. 

In the field of entrepreneurship & industry innovation


He is the founder and Managing Director of Pharmaplus Nigeria Ltd, established in 1992, which has become a significant player in Nigeria’s pharmaceutical landscape. 


He also started Multiplus Consulting, Multiplus Resources Ltd, and has played a key role in the Nigeria–Pakistan Pharma Investment Forum. 


His work in regulatory affairs is deep: as an independent consultant, he has registered many pharmaceutical, veterinary, medical device, and food products with NAFDAC (National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control). 


He has conducted important research under projects like PATH 2 (AXIOS) and the GHAIN initiative, contributing to public health and regulatory knowledge. 


In his  academic & mentorship roles, he has lectured part-time at Ahmadu Bello University, contributing to the training and growth of future pharmacists. 


He has served as an external examiner for the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) and participated in accreditation of pharmacy faculties in Nigerian universities. 



To further display his dexterity, leadership, philanthropy & community services Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai founded the Safe Medicines Foundation, which seeks to promote access to safe, quality medications and support research and healthcare delivery. 


He is a Board Member / Trustee of several organizations, including the Society for Family Health (SFH) and the Nigerian Association of Pharmacists & Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas (NAPPSA). 


He established the Ahmed Yakasai Community Service Award, recognizing contributions to community pharmacy and healthcare. 


RECOGNITION , TITLES & FELLOWSHIPS 


He holds numerous FELLOWSHIPS ranging from Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (FPSN), Fellow of the Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy to Fellow of the Institute of Logistics Management and the Chartered Institute of Commerce and many more. 

In consideration to his services to the community  earned him a revered traditional  title  of  Kachallan Kano, a mark of honour, humility, and unwavering contribution to society.


A Leader Worth Celebrating


As Pharmacist Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai marks another birthday this December, the nation reflects on a life defined by: Service to humanity

, dedication to the Pharmaceutical Profession, commitment to public health, passion for mentoring younger generations and an unwavering belief in ethical leadership



May this new year bring him renewed strength, good health, and continued fulfillment.
